Name & Domain

Yesterday was naming day. I’m not the one who breeds over a project name for 4 weeks. I had a longer skype call with Nils about some stuff around the project and we also brainstormed the project name. After some 30 minutes braining around we had 4 names left:

  • Snipadoo
  • Sniplia
  • AnySnip
  • SimpleSnip

After our phone call i weight up some arguments and could get rid of two of them. So i only had “Snipadoo” and “SimpleSnip” left. I had to decide between the modern, hip, funny, web2.0 name and the one that is more simple, straight and easy to understand/write.

Finally – you probably guessed that – i chose the simple one, the name that one really knows how to write upon first hearing: SimpleSnip. I think it was a good decision. I would of couse loved to have names like snippr or something but you don’t get any domains for the real smart names out there unless you’re willing to pay big numbers. As the project is started with a very low budget this was no option.

Btw: about 90% of the already taken domain names i checked during the last days were just registered and parked. It’s annoying.

But now i got a name, i got the domain and i’m happy with it. While writing this post i’m setting up the domain on the server and after that the party starts. Some basic software setup and all that stuff, you know.
